Two digital entities in conversation with each other, scraping images from the web and sharing them with one another in an attempt to convery meaning — to pass along thought, expression, and emotion.
This piece came from a desire to return to real, found images as opposed to my last work Simulacrum Orbita (2025) which was made up solely of generated images. I found that although that work exhibited an infinite amount of images, not one ever repeated, they all lacked experience, memory, and presence.
Flipping its source code, however, to use images scraped from the web, created an entirely different experience. Now, the endless conversation told stories, shared memories, and returned an accurate reflection of collective human experience.
Developed in response to Simulacrum Orbita (2025) and as part of and in the mist // Flickr Reflections (2025) made for the Flickr Foundation anniversary event at the Photographer's Gallery.
